Pool Seeding vs. Division Seeding

Pool Seeding vs Division Seeding

To promote fairness, USSSA CO/WY is implementing Division Seeding for divisions where pools and brackets are unbalanced.

Pool Seeding

When Pools and Brackets divide evenly -> then the Pool standings will feed into the Bracket seedings.

Say we have 16 teams across 4 Pools and we have two Brackets of 8 teams each.

The 1st and 2nd place teams from each Pool (8 teams) will feed into the upper bracket and the 3rd and 4th place teams from each Pool (8 teams) will feed into the lower bracket.

Division Seeding

When Pools and Brackets do not cleanly map, say with a division of 26 or 28 teams feeding into 4 brackets of different sizes, we have found it is not fair to randomly seed Pools unevenly into Brackets.

So, to increase fairness when the Pools and Brackets are uneven, we will not seed by Pool, but instead will seed by the entire Division.

For example, for a 28 team division, we'll seed teams 1 to 28 into the Brackets and we will use the USSSA Tie Breakers to determine placement: 1) winning percentage, 2) head to head records, 3) average runs allowed, and 4) run differential.

With Division seeding, it is possible for a Pool to send multiple Teams to a bracket based on the tie breakers when teams are compared across the entire Division.

MONARCH FIELDS INFORMATION

Hello softball families. We look forward to seeing everyone at the fields this weekend. Please take a minute
to read the below information. It should help make your day as enjoyable as possible.

Parking - The center of the main parking lot is reserved for NYS employees/volunteers, event officials,
umpires and handicapped people (must have placard). There is general/public parking on both sides of
Little League Lane (the dirt road into the complex) and on the east side of the complex. We also utilize the
parking lot on the west side of the road (the entrance is on East Dry Creek Road just west of the Little
League Lane – note that there is ongoing construction on the building) and the parking lot on the east side
of the road (it can be accessed directly from our parking lot or via East Dry Creek just east of Little League
Lane). See the attached map if you are not sure how to access these parking lots. Regardless of where you
park, please do not block traffic lanes in or out of any areas and please do not move any barriers to park in
restricted spots. Also note that due to dry conditions and ongoing work at the fields, the back and side
entrances to the fields will be closed. Please enter through the front of the complex. Thanks for your
cooperation.

Dogs - We allow dogs at the complex. They need to be on a leash and you need to clean up after them
(thanks for your cooperation on this).

Stuff - Every year all kinds of equipment, clothing, and other belongings (especially water bottles) are left
behind and rarely ever make their way back to their owner. Before switching fields or leaving for the day,
please take a minute to make sure that everything that you brought with you leaves with you. Coaches -
When you get to your dugout, make sure there was nothing left behind from the previous game. Then,
when you leave, make sure everything goes with you. If it was not there when you arrived, it belongs to
someone on your team, so be sure to reunite it with the owner.

Garbage - Monarch is run by Niwot Youth Sports, a non-profit organization. We have a few volunteers that
spend a lot of time caring for the complex. We have a simple request. Please clean up after yourselves and
your kids. There are lots of garbage cans around the complex. Please utilize them. When switching fields
or leaving for the day, make sure you pick up after yourselves. It only takes a minute and makes everyone's
experience a little better. And if you see garbage sitting around, please throw it away (even if is not yours).
It's a small contribution that makes a big difference.

Bathrooms – Most of the Port-o-Pots are gone!!! The bathrooms are in the center of the complex in our
new building. Please do not throw anything but toilet paper and tissues into the toilets. We’ll do our best
to keep the bathrooms clean, but ultimately that is up to all of you. And if need be....there is one Porta
Pot on the north side of the complex outside the left field fence on Field 1

.
Concessions - We'll be running concessions throughout the day (from about 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM). The
money raised goes to Niwot Youth Sports and will help pay for improvements to the fields. We accept cash
and/or credit cards. Please utilize the concessions while at the fields. It’s an easy way to help support the
organization.
